Just as you'd see a physiotherapist to help with a physical injury, why wouldn't you see a psychotherapist to help with your mental health?

Therapy

I take the view that psychotherapy is something we should all do, and something that we shouldn't be ashamed of doing. We maintain our cars regularly to ensure they are kept in working order and get them fixed when something isn't working as it should be - which goes beyond keeping the exterior clean and shiny. What's the difference with our mental health? If there is a problem with our inner workings, we may need some psychological maintenance.

Often that requires someone outside of your network, with no connection or bias, trained, willing to listen, there solely to support you in improving your state of mind.

I draw on a range of my own personal life experiences and mental health struggles - experiences that I've processed and overcome - so will only ever listen to you with an open mind and completely without judgement.

My Approach

Relational

An approach centred on the importance of authentic connection, viewing the client-therapist relationship as crucial to growth, understanding that our emotional well-being stems from our relationship with self and others. Buxton Bakewell High Peak

Person-centred

Helps clients to find their own solutions through a supportive, non-judgmental space built on empathy, helping individuals achieve personal growth and self-actualisation through conversation led by you. With support, you will find your own way/s forward.

Integrative

A personalised approach to mental health that draws upon and blends techniques from various therapeutic models to create an approach tailored to an individual's unique needs, rather than forcing one method or theory to fit.

What to expect...

What to expect...

  • An informal, down to earth approach about whatever it is you need to talk about, without the jargon, without patronising you.

  • No judgement, no pressure, no lying down on a sofa with your eyes closed as I make notes on a clipboard.

  • An understanding that we all have traumatic experiences and dips in our mental health, me included; as well as the knowledge that we can manage them, overcome them, and/or learn to accept them.

  • 50 minute sessions in private therapy rooms either in-person or online - how many will depend on what you wish to work on and the progress we make. We can also walk and talk.
